In order to present you with the most accurate results we need to know if you are a ‘rural’ or ‘urban’ customer. If you are unsure it should appear on your bill. The word urban or rural should appear next to your tariff or plan name.

1. A Standard (24Hr) meter has a single tariff rate for electricity usage at all times. Meter Type MCC01.
2. A Nightsaver (Day/Night) meter has two different rates for day and night usage. Customers on a Nightsaver tariff are charged a lower rate for electricity used at night. Meter type MCC02.
3. A Smart meter allows for flexible pricing and rates based on time of use. Users may be able to save by shifting usage to times when electricity is cheaper. Meter types MCC12 and MCC16.
We need to know your meter type to make sure we compare deals based on your actual meter and tariff type. Your meter details will be displayed on the front of your bill.

If you have a smart meter, you may be on a smart tariff. Smart tariffs, or time of use tariffs charge different rates during different times of the day, and often offer lower rates during off peak electricity times or at night time.

A NightSaver Meter is a special meter that has two dials. The first dial records the number of electricity units used during the day and the second dial records the number of electricity units used at night. Customers on a NightSaver tariffs are charged a discounted rate for electricity used at night. We need to know if you have a NightSaver Meter in order to make sure we compare the correct tariff and show you the most accurate saving.

Please select how much of your electricity is used at night-time. Night rate charges apply between 11pm and 8am (winter time) or between 12am and 9am (summer time). If you don’t know or are unsure, choose the national average split which is set by the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU).

To calculate your savings we need to know how much energy you currently use at home. You can choose either kWh or €. (For the best results we recommend using kWh). However, don’t worry if you’re not sure, we can estimate this for you based on the national average consumption figure published by the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU).

The national average is 4200kWh, so we will use that to help calculate your results.
