Flogas to Increase Electricity Prices from 25th August 2025

Flogas has announced that it will be increasing electricity prices by 7%, from 25th August 2025. The change will impact around 43,500 Flogas electricity customers who are currently on variable rate tariffs.

According to the supplier, this is its first price rise in three years, following a 15% price cut introduced in 2024.

Flogas has confirmed that the increase will only apply to electricity rates. Gas rates will remain unchanged which means gas customers (or the gas portion of a dual fuel deal) will not see prices increase.

What does the Flogas price increase mean for you?

The upcoming increase will see the annual bill for a typical Flogas electricity customer rise by about €126 per year – that’s around €10.51 extra per month.

The price changes will apply to both the unit rate (c/kWh) and daily standing charges (c/day). Full details are available on the flogas website. In addition, the changes in rates and charges are already factored into the comparisons on Power to Switch.

Why are prices going up?

Flogas has pointed to rising network charges as a key driver behind the price hike.

These charges are regulated by the CRU and apply to all suppliers – not just Flogas. These are the costs associated with delivering electricity to homes and businesses and are agreed by the CRU. Network charges account for roughly 30% of a customer’s electricity bill and are incorporated into the electricity unit rate and daily standing charge that consumers pay.

These grid-related charges have been consistently rising due to the investment required to accommodate a rapidly growing population and integrate increasing amounts of renewable energy sources like wind and solar power into the grid.

In a statement, Sean O’Loughlin, Managing Director of Flogas Energy, acknowledged that price increases are challenging but said they are necessary in light of external cost pressures.

We understand that any price change can be challenging for our customers. This announcement reflects a 21% increase in network charges introduced in October 2024, with further increases anticipated in October 2025,” he said.

Support available for customers

If you’re on a fixed electricity tariff, you won’t see any change for now as your price is fixed for the length of your contract term.

If you are on a variable rate tariff you will still receive the same discount (e.g. 30%) but this will now be off a higher standard rate so your bill will increase even if the discount remains the same.

Customers experiencing financial difficulty are encouraged to contact Flogas Customer Service directly to discuss available supports, such as payment plans or budget plans.

Finding a better deal

With this increase, many Flogas customers will be paying more for their electricity – but you don’t have to. If you’re on a variable rate or out of contract, it’s worth comparing all deals on the market to see how much you could save by switching.

At Power to Switch we compare all tariffs and deals across all energy suppliers to save you money. Switching is quick, hassle-free and means you keep more money in your pocket. You don’t even have to tell your old supplier you are leaving.
