Flogas has become the latest energy supplier to announce higher energy prices, with residential electricity and gas bills set to increase from 20th July 2026.
The announcement follows recent price increases from other suppliers in the Irish energy market and serves as a timely reminder for households to review their current tariff and check whether a better deal is available
What prices are changing?
Flogas has confirmed that new electricity and gas prices will apply from 20th July 2026. The exact impact depends on your tariff and meter type, however Flogas has confirmed:
- Electricity prices will increase by 10.9%
- Gas prices will increase by 11.8%
As a result the increase is expected to add approximately:
- €214 per year to the average electricity bill
- €180 per year to the average gas bill
For dual fuel customers using both electricity and gas, annual energy costs could rise by more than €394 per year, depending on household usage.
It is important to note that the increase is to both tariff unit rates and standing charges. Any customers currently on a fixed-rate (price) contract will not be affected. However, be aware that when your contract ends you will be moved to a standard rate which will now be much higher.
Why are prices going up?
Flogas have said they protected customers from higher prices by absorbing market pressures for as long as possible, however continuing volatility has made this price rise necessary.
Ken O’Byrne, Commercial Director, Flogas said:
“At Flogas, our priority has been to protect customers from these increases wherever possible and consistently absorb the cost for as long as we can. However, given the continued volatility in energy markets driven by the ongoing geopolitical tensions, we are now unfortunately unable to delay this increase any further.
The announcement follows similar price increases elsewhere in the Irish market and may signal a broader upward movement in household energy costs.

Finding a better deal
If you are a Flogas customer, now is a good time to review your tariff and check whether you are still on the best available deal. When suppliers increase prices and discounts change, the difference between tariffs can widen quickly – meaning staying with the same supplier may not always offer the best value
